Environmental review of The City of Baraboo Project for the Safe Drinking Water Loan Program


The City of Baraboo is an applicant for funding through the Safe Drinking Water Loan Program (SDWLP) to address deficiencies in its public drinking water system. The project primarily includes the replacement of lead service lines throughout the City of Baraboo.

Activities related to this project are minor actions under Chapter NR 150, Wis. Admin. Code, for which no environmental analysis is required; however, following the SDWLP federal requirement 40 C.F.R. ยง35.3580, an environmental review must be conducted before funding this project. Ken Notes: Lead replacement programs need to be on every communities to do list, but it does not have to be all at once. If your water source is stable and there are not bad levels at the tap, the pipes are most likely lined with deposits that keep the lead from leaching. JUST DO NOT CHANGE SOURCE until all the lead is gone.
