Wisconsin’s First Large-Scale Solar Project Now Up and Running


Wisconsin’s first large-scale solar project is complete and now powering Madison-area establishments. Madison Gas and Electric (MGE) is a co-owner of the 150-megawatt (MW) Two Creeks Solar facility with Wisconsin Public Service (WPS). MGE owns 50 MW; WPS owns 100 MW.

Two Creeks Solar features 500,000 solar panels across 800 acres in Manitowoc County. NextEra Energy Resources LLC developed and built Two Creeks Solar in partnership with MGE and WPS. Construction began in August 2019. Many of the facility’s components, including its half-million panels, were installed this spring and summer. Ken Notes: This is huge! Just a note to my business readers, with the admin changes we will need to become proactive and "at the table" as the new administration starts to change the rules. WDNGreen.com will continue to strongly support environmental issue that make economic sense and we are in a strong position to move a green agenda forward but we will need to make sure restriction and mandates do not impede the progress we have made.

Power companies will need our help as well so they can migrate from carbon to renewables. We need to advocate for closing coal plants, transitional co-gen facilities, and fair rate structures. It would be nice in both cases to see a bi-partisan agenda rather than a return to more restrictive policy...
