Wisconsin GOP lawmaker vows to block new rules meant to protect farmers’ neighbors from manure stench


A key Republican lawmaker vowed Wednesday to block new state restrictions designed to protect farmers` neighbors from the stench of manure following a flurry of complaints from Wisconsin`s agricultural community.

The state Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection has spent the last three years drafting revisions to farm siting regulations. Ken Notes: Notice how quickly CAFO`s are being protected as "just farmers". This is not the case these are factories not farms and the manure they produce and the way they distribute it is nothing like farming, and it sure does not smell like farming.

Where were the legislators, on either side, when 20% of our dairy farms were shutting down each year. You know real farmers who had been farming for generations. Please do stand behind the, "I`m protecting farmers", shield when you are addressing CAFO issues. It smells bad!
