Foxconn changing Wisconsin plans `could be a positive` for Lake County environmental concerns, officials say

As news spread Wednesday that Foxconn Technology Group is reconsidering its plans for its first U.S. plant just across the Illinois border, the Lake County Board chairwoman said she hopes that Wisconsin will also reconsider its end of the deal.

The Taiwanese electronics giant, which supplies Apple, said Wednesday that it is considering doing research and development at the facility, which it originally said would be a manufacturing plant....

Ken Notes: I am not so sure. Foxconn made major commitments regarding environment, water, and production. Both the communities and company will now seek to use the space to recoup investment and commitments to infrastructure and development. It will be more difficult to monitor this type of growth. The idea of Wisconsin withdrawing is also not strongly supported. Now more than ever we need to trust but VERIFY....
