Residents register objections to Lake Michigan water for Foxconn plant


Dozens of concerned residents and activists asked a Wisconsin agency this week to reject an application from the city of Racine todraw 7 million gallons of water daily from Lake Michigan for a proposed Foxconn plant.

At a public hearing on the request in Sturtevant, many of those who testified said the proposal to take water for a corporation would violate the Great Lakes Compact requirement that such requests be for public uses. They also said Foxconn has not provided enough detail about what toxic chemicals it might be pouring into the lake when it returns most of the water, and whether they are dangerous....

Ken Notes: Not a bad thing, but if the goal is seen as preventing Foxconn from developing you will loose your seat at the table. my political mentor once told me to make a difference you need that seat, thus 10 years school board, 4 years mayor, 4 years alder-person, dozens of boards and committees, and 10 years now as a social advocate for a positive Wisconsin.
